My time at CICOES was a transformational experience. I have always loved Seattle, but working so closely with scientists at the NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center inspired me to pursue a lab research career after graduation that directly impacts our community. My favorite part about the CICOES experience was the accessibility and progressiveness of Seattle’s urban infrastructure – the weather during the summer and public transportation made this experience worthwhile. I ended up biking to work some days and learned I love biking, swimming, and rock climbing because of this experience! I am forever grateful to have received this opportunity with CICOES and for all the passionate people I met through this program. I sincerely believe this experience has set the foundation for my career in environmental sustainability and look forward to seeing how my friends from the CICOES program grow from this experience as well!
