Project: ALAN effects on predatory search volume within the Seattle ship canal

Through my experience working at CICOES and the USGS, I learned a multitude of different skills and concepts pertaining to aquatic ecology such as data collection, working with a team, ArcGIS, poster making, and professionalism. In my efforts researching the effects of artificial light at night (ALAN) on juvenile salmon predation in Lake Washington, I was able to immerse myself in a professional environment with other likeminded and welcoming individuals. My work with both Dave Beauchamp and Tessa Code will be invaluable in my future endeavors. I also cannot express enough gratitude to the other researchers at the USGS who made me feel accepted and safe to express myself in the work environment as well as invite me to other research opportunities in the field. The CICOES program gave me an incredible experience and also matched me with people that I can confidently reach out to in the future for when I apply for jobs and graduate school. I want to say thank you to everyone at CICOES, I am truly thankful for you accepting me into the program, this summer was a blast!
